INTRODUCTION: On the evening of October 30, 2020, at a Products team meeting at Google LLC headquarters in New York, USA, a Google product associate was narrating the India growth story of the company’s education-based product Google Classroom (Classroom). The Vice President-Products, Avni George (Avni), was present at the meeting. As she listened to her teammate, she recollected Classroom’s tepid growth in India since its launch around 2015. It was during the early part of April 2020 when a nationwide lockdown was imposed in India due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI), had approached Avni to help bring education to every child and teacher through the online mode of learning.. |
