McGraw-Hillwas formed by the joint efforts of JamesH.McGraw(James) and JohnA.Hill (John). Jameswas a teacher and was working in publishing sector. In 1888, he purchased the American Journal of RailwayAppliances. In 1899, he incorporated “The McGraw Publishing Company” which undertook technical and trade publications.
