INTRODUCTION:
On September 13, 2009, Naresh Goyal (Goyal), chairman of Jet Airways (India) Ltd. (Jet Airways) – India’s largest airline, invited 200 of the airline’s Indian pilots for discussions at a five star hotel in Mumbai. The meeting was held to reconcile with the Indian pilots who had gone on strike to protest against unfair wages and other perks which, they said, were not on a par with the wages given to expatriate pilots. At the conference hall, the pilots discovered that the members present at the meeting included senior expatriate employees – Captain Hamid Ali (Chief Operating Officer), Captain Hassan Al-Mousawi (Senior VP-Operations), and Declan Conolley (VP-Flight Operations). The protesting pilots refused to enter the conference hall due to the presence of these senior expatriate employees.
