INTRODUCTION: In the summer of 2025, a second-year MBA (HR) student, Abha, joined a privately held textile manufacturing company Tragon Limited (Tragon). She was asked to report at the company’s plant located in Sarni in Madhya Pradesh in central India, in the Learning & Development (L&D) department. Abha was tasked with conducting a competency mapping exercise to identify key skill gaps across operational roles in the plant. To do this, she had to coordinate with managers across 40 departments and functions, collect the details of the required skills data, and then analyze the data to identify the top 10 skills with the highest skill gap across departments for the Training Need Analysis (TNI) Process.. |
