Dr. Robert Salomonis an Associate Professor at the Stern School of Business, New York University. His research centers on the management and economics of international expansion. He studies how and why firms enter foreign markets, how firms manage the cross-border technology transfer process, and how international expansion impacts firm performance. His research papers have been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Management Science, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Organization and Environment, and the Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings (among others). His articles have been published in recent books including Cooperative Strategies and Alliances and A New Generation in International Strategic Management. He published his first book, entitled Learning from Exporting: New Insights, New Perspectives in 2007. Salomon’s academic accomplishments include several noteworthy distinctions. He won the 2006 IABS Best Article Award and the 2003 Haynes Best Paper Prize. His dissertation was awarded both the William H Newman and Barry M Richman dissertation prizes; was runner-up in the 2001 INFORMS dissertation competition; was nominated for the Richard N Farmer Dissertation Award; and was considered as a finalist for the Gunnar Hedlund Medal. In addition, his papers have been nominated four times for the Best Paper Award at the 2002, 2003, and 2008 Academy of Management meetings. He has received commendations for “Excellence in Teaching” at both New York University and the University of Southern California. He was even described in the Wall Street Journal as an educator who provides “brilliant distilled advice on business strategy.” Salomon received a BBA in Finance magna cum laude from the University of Michigan. He earned his Masters and PhD degrees in International Business Strategy from the Stern School of Business, New York University. |
