  • We are sure there are many successful women managers (leaders too, although quite a few in number) across the globe, spanning different walks of life. What lessons, do you think, we can know from their success stories? Is there any one example that stands out for you both in terms fulfilling personal and professional lives?
For me, two very inspiring women have been Liz Willis and Jenny Daisley, co founders of the Springboard Consultancy UK, who have helped thousands of women worldwide tap their potential and take responsibility for their lives.

They were recently awarded European Women Achievers Awards. In my personal life, my mother, who persuaded my father not to move back to our village after his retirement her persuasive skills and this one decision changed my life by providing me with the opportunity for higher education and employment!

  • Why doesn't the business press celebrate women's success with the same gusto as men's? Rarely does a business magazine feature a woman manager on its cover. Can a magazine become one of many platforms to give women their rightful seat and space?
Media is a powerful agent of change. I do hope media works positively on your suggestions to show that the media values women's contribution to the economy and in other spheres. However, regrettably, media has instead promoted commodification of women. Media barons need to be more gender sensitive. More women in journalism profession would also bring a better perspective through their writing. Advertising standards need to be monitored and regulated. For example, in Sweden all TV advertising targeted at children was banned sometime ago. Media can bring about positive social change.
