Abstract:
Once a leader in the copier industry, Xerox Corporation was losing market share due to increase in competition from Japanese companies. Rick Thoman, an ex-IBM executive, was brought in 1999 to bring an outsider's perspective to the company and to return the company to profitability. However, he was not successful and to turnaround the fortunes of the company Anne Mulcahy (Mulcahy), a Xerox veteran, was appointed as the new CEO in 2001. Mulcahy brought about several organisational changes, which resulted in steady increase in the company's profits.
