Abstract:
This case study is meant for discussing the concept of learning and behaviour modification in Organisational Behaviour Course. It highlights an instance wherein negative reinforcement has been used for behaviour modification. Bharat, a student at Chaitanya Jyoti Engineering College, misuses the telephone in his hostel and drives up the STD bill. Bharat’s father is called upon to complain regarding his son’s actions. Bharat’s father is of the opinion that his son’s actions do not require severe punishment and expresses the same to the principal of the college. The principal, however, feels that Bharat should be punished so that he can learn a lesson and does not repeat such behaviour in future.
