Abstract:
The primary objective of this case is to illustrate the importance of leadership and communication to build a successful team. The setting of the case is in a fictional university based in Northern France. A Total Quality Management (TQM) programme has been initiated across the university. The focus of this case is on the school of management studies, where a part of TQM project i.e., obtaining the ISO 9001 certificate for all the programmes of the school is being implemented. However, the management school hardly achieves any progress in its project due to inappropriate leadership style, lack of proper planning and communication barriers within the project team. The case analyses the reasons in detail and offers recommendations to overcome these problems.

• To understand the different leadership styles
• To analyse the differences between a leader and a manager
• To debate on the influence of leadership and communication on team dynamics
• To understand change management.
