Genentech, Inc. is a leading biotechnology company that discovers, develops, manufactures and markets human pharmaceuticals for significant unmet medical needs. The company has headquarters in South San Francisco, California and is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol DNA. Genentech Tops the Fortune’s 2006 “100 Best Companies to Work For.” This case discusses in detail the nature of biotechnology industry and the role of human resources in the industry.
