  • What is the role of business schools in preparing the future managers capable of handling increased business complexities and able to work with diverse work groups?
Business schools are good at teaching the hard skills ofmanagement, such as accounting, finance, and economics. They have more difficulty teaching 'soft' skills, such as how to work with others, howto see the big picture, how to be creative and foster creativity, how to work effectively in teams, how to manage through influence rather than authority, how to be mindful of both ends and means, and how to work

effectively with partners and clients across organizational and national boundaries. Young MBAs often dislike courses that cover the soft skills, but alumni returning to campus for the 10th or 20th reunion usually go on and on about how important the soft skills turned out to be!
