Kaplan Inc, a subsidiary of Washington Post Company has become a leading for-profit higher education institution in the US. It has grown from a test preparation company to a large and diverse educational conglomerate under the leadership of Jonathan Grayer who became the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Kaplan in 1994. Grayer and his team faced many challenges to revive Kaplan. By combating competition, complying with stringent federal guidelines, acquiring educational companies and streamlining business operations using the Web, Kaplan made a mark in the for-profit higher education market.
