Abstract:
The global steel industry's performance was robust during the year 2004 and the industry experts predict that such robust performance will continue throughout 2005 and 2006. On the contrary, some analysts cautioned that the industry would face a downturn in the near future and an oversupply of steel into the global market by the Chinese steel industry would be the reason for the downturn. But others were of the opinion that other factors, like an exorbitant rise in the prices of raw materials, would be the real reasons behind the projected downturn in the fortunes of the global steel industry.
Pedagogical Objectives:
- To discuss the factors affecting the global steel industry
- To discuss the affect of Chinese steel industry on the evident change in the global steel industry.
