It grew from less than $40 billion in 1993 to $73 billion in 2003, 32.4% of the total global gambling revenue for that year. By 2004, 46 states in the US had some form of legalised gambling and it is expected that on-line gambling alone would generate revenues of $7.6 billion by 2005.
